Write for λ3

λ3 is an independent print magazine about outdoor life. We tell stories of people and the places that shape them: mountain villages and islands, long walks and slow rides, food cooked outdoors, families raising kids close to nature.

We’re made in Athens, but we’re looking for voices from everywhere. You don’t need to be a professional writer or an athlete. A weekend on a mountain you love can be as strong a story as an expedition.

Paths

λ3 publishes two print issues a year. The spring issue is made by our team in one place. The autumn issue is made from your work, around one theme. For November 2027 the theme is Paths. Not sure your idea fits? Pitch it anyway.

The theme

What “Paths” can mean

Walks

Day walks and long routes, from the back door to across a country.

Old ways

Mule tracks, shepherds’ trails, pilgrim roads and the people who keep them open.

Journeys

By bike, on skis, on water: any way of moving slowly through a place.

Inner paths

What walking does to us: memory, family, endings and beginnings.

What we look for

Stories told from the inside

Personal, author-led stories. Journeys told from the inside: what it felt like, who you met, what changed.
People rooted in place. Shepherds, cooks, guides, makers, families.
Photo essays with a clear point of view. Film or digital, colour or black and white.
Interviews and profiles of people shaping outdoor culture.
Field notes and guides with a story behind them: a route, a recipe, a craft.

We don’t publish destination listicles or generic travel guides, gear reviews or anything written to promote a brand, stories mainly about speed, distance or records, or work already published elsewhere (a new text about the same project is welcome).

How to submit

One email is enough

Email [email protected] with the subject line “Pitch – [your story title]” and include:

Your name, where you’re based, and a short bio
Your story title and text, saying if it’s a full draft, a section or a short summary
Whether it’s a trip you’ve done, a trip you’re planning, or another outdoor experience
Up to 10 photographs, as a link that opens without a login

We read every pitch and reply to everyone before the issue goes to print. Strong ideas we can’t fit in print may find a home on lamda3.com.
