The video “Dreams Can’t Be Quarantined” is a project of special interest and deep meaning. It all began with the curfew. Aris Katsigiannis, a well-known Greek director and photographer based in Athens, had a stroke of genius, an idea. He started thinking about way to take something positive out of the world-wide crisis we are experiencing. That’s when he remembered how much footage he has gathered from all over Greece over the years. Countless images that could be used to create something very beautiful. That’s what sparked the idea to create the video “Dreams Can’t Be Quarantined”. After countless hours of editing with the help of his creative team, Aris created a video that projects an optimistic message to all the people in the world. The universal message is that dreams simply cannot be quarantined, and that we shouldn’t let any virus or situation kill our dreams.
The main purpose of this video was to highlight the tourism in Greece, and to urge tourists not to cancel their vacations, but postpone them for a future date. At the same time, Aris wants to spread hope and optimism to every viewer.
During the creation of this project, the video received an unexpected rush of interest. It became an effort to encourage the people of the world. An effort to narrate how we, as Greeks, experience this unprecedented crisis, and also to give a voice to every single person in the world.
In the end of the video we see people from every corner of the globe, each sending their own message of hopefulness, and thus to erase any negativity that has poisoned our world in the past weeks. People from Portugal, USA, Italy, Nepal, Colombia, Greece, France, Australia, Argentina, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Chile, Egypt, Puerto Rico, Uganda, Romania, Norway, Brazil, Canada, Serbia, Germany, India, Dubai, Ecuador, Russia, Sweden, Holland, Slovakia, Costa Rica, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Ireland, Poland, Belgium, Morocco and Cyprus all willingly shared their individual positive message.
Through this video, a lot of values and truths can be transferred to others. While any single one of us might be scared or confused, we are all fighting this crisis, each in their own manner. But one thing’s for certain. We are all together in this fight. We must strive to remain positive and united, and better days WILL come. Our dreams will never be quarantined.
