The summer is inextricably tied to refreshing cocktails and exotic flavors. Summer getaways and carefree moments on the beach immediately come to mind, but you can also enjoy refreshing cocktails with friends in a town square or at a hangout. What would you say if we told you that we’ve found 4 fantastic combinations that you can make in the comfort of your own home? And then call a few friends over in order to enjoy homemade cocktails in your balcony?
It’s the balconies in the summer that we all love. Coming home straight from the beach, with the sea salt still on our skins, chilling in the balcony, listening to music and ordering take-out food. Only the sounds have changed, and the fireflies are no more – except if you are one of the lucky ones to live on the countryside.

Let’s get to it then, 4 cocktails that you can make yourself and impress your friends with your skills. Maybe you should send a resume to some of the finest bars in town? Here is the first part:
Number 1:
Papa Julep
This is a variation of a Julep cocktail with Rum, sugar cane syrup, some refreshing spearmint, a few drops of Old Fashioned and served classically in an inox glass. The Julep is a classic type of cocktail, coming from the southern parts of the United States. In this particular variation we go further south, and infuse it with a little more summer, by using rum instead of whiskey.
The recipe:
50ml Don Papa rum
10ml Monin sugar cane
5 leaves of spearmint
2 drops Fee Brothers Old Fashioned
Carefully put all the ingredients inside a big inox glass. Shake very well with a spoon and garnish with a topping of spearmint.
*the only thing you will need, traditionally, is an inox glass. If you don’t have one, you can use a different glass of the same size.

Number 2:
Watermelon Mule
Our second recipe is also based on a classic type of cocktail, the Mules. The Mules are a combination of vodka and ginger ale. We will give a more summer-y and rather fruity element by adding slices of freshly-cut watermelon. It’s simply stunning if you spent the entire day at the beach and you’re craving for something refreshing!
The recipe:
50ml Tito’s Handmade Vodka
100ml Fentimans Ginger Beer
Slices of fresh watermelon
We put all the ingredients inside a highball glass, and serve with a straw.
Go ahead and try these easy cocktails at home, and tell us your opinion as we get ready for part 2 of these homemade cocktail series!
Enjoy!
