Paragraphs:

Last September, I had the opportunity to enjoy my beloved bike for the last time. Such opportunities are good for grabbing and keeping your last stroll along with the great past rides.

After we got the necessary (maps, proper rider and passenger suit, money for gas) we started for the Peloponnese. This time we visited the favorite area of Arcadia, a region that stands out for its beautiful villages and the rich nature in the central Peloponnese, Lagadia Arcadia (border with Gortynia prefecture).

Lagkadia of Gortynia region

A region that stands out for its beautiful villages and rich nature in the central Peloponnese, Lagadia Arcadia (border with the prefecture of Gortynia). Known for the technicians who lived there in the past and specifically the builders, specialized in stone. That is why all the villages have wonderful stone buildings and the builders are well known all across the country. Apart from the beauty, it is also admirable how they manage to build on the mountain slopes these wonderful buildings.

A village of particular beauty in its buildings, just 2.5 hours from Athens in one of the most beautiful places in Greece. Right in the middle of the Peloponnese, full of greenery, close to the Mainalo mountain range. Nature here is magnificent in the autumn (mainly for the numerous shades of yellow, green and brown) and in spring when everything comes alive again after winter.

The way to reach here is very easy without any difficulty except the last track after Tripoli where you may encounter the first turns. Nature, however, rewards you and lets you relax by enjoying the scenery and get lost in the endless turns on downhill in Mainalo. Ideal destination for enjoying a motorbike and getting lost in forest tracks. The surrounding villages of Vytina, Dimitsana, Stemnitsa are waiting for you to visit them relaxing in a beautiful weekend or even in a big excursion from early morning or evening. All the magic here is lying within the nature, so ideally even you have only one day at your disposal is more than enough to get close to nature.

The route once again rewards you either from Vytina to Dimitsana - Stemnitsa or from Tripoli to Lagadia. Choose to relax in the large balcony in the center of Lagadia village and enjoy your coffee by looking at the slopes. If by chance want to spend the night there, choose the Kentrikon Hotel and the front room to gaze from the balcony the marvelous view. Wake up early and take the route through Mainalo to Dimitsana (after Kaloneri) and then Stemnitsa and Vytina through Mainalo and the village of Elati. The fir trees will welcome you on this magical journey and Vitina Square will await for you for one last stop for coffee before you take the road to return.

The area is famous for its good meat and honey (if you are lucky and find fir honey, take it without a second thought). Relaxing way back via Tripoli (again if you do not have time) otherwise take the route to Panagia Vrahon and Lake Stymphalia. Do not miss the opportunity to climb the monastery that is "buried" in the rock and on your way back make a last stop to Nemea and the wonderful vineyards. The village is not that beautiful, but the area thanks to the vineyards and the Ancient Temple is characterized by beautiful scenery. National road again, just 5 minutes from Nemea and 1 hour drive to Athens after a beautiful excursion to nature.

That's what you need, a Sunday motorcycle ride, contact with nature and a nice company. However, to thank you for leaving Saturday, sleep and wake up there, be thankful.

My Advice

Dress well, choose proper rider and bike equipment because temperatures vary due to mountain and can meet high humidity or even rainbows even in spring, so take with you isothermal and waterproof. Keep in mind that good (and full) equipment will make the trip more comfortable and enjoyable.
